Visual Gap Direction Challenge
Spot which way the gap in the ring points.
Informal challenge · not a health screening
About this challenge
A free visual gap game. A ring with a small gap appears, and you choose which way the gap points as the rings get smaller. You get correct answers by gap size. Screen size and viewing distance change the result, so it is not a vision test or prescription.
Choose Entry, Regular or Hard first.
What it measures
How often you identify the direction of a gap in a ring as the gap gets smaller on your screen.
How the score works
A raw count of correct gap directions, broken down by gap size. No acuity fraction or prescription.
If you get all 4 of the largest gaps right but only 2 of the 4 smallest, your result shows that split by size. No fraction like 20/20 is calculated, because your screen and distance are unknown.
Entry, Regular and Hard
- Entry
- 20 ring trials in steps of gap size, untimed.
- Regular
- 20 rings with a smoother progression of gap sizes and all eight directions.
- Hard
- 20 rings with smaller gaps and nearby distractor rings, kept within what your screen can show clearly.
Each level has its own fixed set of items and its own score, so results are only compared within the same level. How levels are designed

Limits
Your screen, lighting, viewing distance and vision correction affect this activity. It cannot measure visual acuity, diagnose any eye condition or determine a clinical vision prescription.
For education, entertainment and general self-exploration only. These activities are not medical or psychological assessments and do not diagnose, prevent or treat any condition. Results are estimates of performance on these tasks and can be affected by practice, attention, language, your device and your surroundings. If you have concerns about your thinking, vision or hearing, consult a qualified healthcare professional.
Questions
Is this the same as an eye test?
No. An eye test controls distance, lighting and chart size. A browser cannot, so this is a game, not a clinical measurement.
Should I wear my glasses?
Yes. Keep your usual glasses or contact lenses on and sit at your normal distance from the screen.
Why shouldn't I zoom the page?
Zooming changes the size of the gaps, so your results would not be comparable from one attempt to the next.
