Multitasking and Dual Task Challenge
React to a symbol while remembering a flash.
About this challenge
A free dual task challenge. Respond to a symbol in the centre while remembering which slot flashed around it, then pick that slot. You get accuracy for each task and joint accuracy, the share of trials where both were right.
Choose Entry, Regular or Hard first.
What it measures
Accuracy on two tasks at once: responding to a centre symbol, and remembering which of four slots flashed.
How the score works
Symbol task accuracy and slot memory accuracy are scored on the same completed trials, plus joint accuracy where both were right.
Over 24 trials, getting the symbol task right 21 times (88%) and the slot right 18 times (75%), with both right on 16 trials, gives joint accuracy 16 ÷ 24 = 67%. Joint accuracy is usually the lowest of the three.
Entry, Regular and Hard
- Entry
- 24 dual-task trials with four slots.
- Regular
- 20 dual-task trials with four slots and a shorter flash.
- Hard
- 20 dual-task trials with six slots and a shorter response window, so both tasks compete more for your attention.
Each level has its own fixed set of items and its own score, so results are only compared within the same level. How levels are designed

Questions
What does multitasking measure here?
How well you keep two simple tasks going at once on this device. It does not measure productivity or any condition.
Why score the tasks separately?
People often protect one task and let the other slip. Separate scores show which way you lean.
Can I compare levels?
Not directly. Each level changes the load, so compare results within the same level.
